Procedure
Introduction to the objective, aims, and structure of the training session. (10 minutes)
Briefly present the content of the training session and the aim. Give a short introduction to people development and why it is relevant particularly in rural and local context.(content for the PowerPoint presentation
Here, people development is understood as a process by which individuals are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes they need to reach business/work goals.
A particular emphasis on the main feature of rural/local context (each facilitator should present the context of the particular training location) : main features of working life; entrepreneurship, available resources etc.
Exercise 1 (10 min)
Facilitator presents the following questions and asks mentees to think of them individually for a moment:
- What is people development, and why is it important for achieving common goals?
- What are some common barriers in rural context, and how can they be overcome?
Participants are asked to write down a few most important notions.
The aim of the exercise is to give the participants time to reflect their own thoughts and come up with questions and experiences.
Participants are divided into small groups. Each group discusses the same questions (see above): the main aim for the discussion is to find solutions to barriers caused by the rural/local context.
At the end of this session, each pair/group will present the results of their work. The facilitator should highlight the different ways of thinking and approaching the same questions.
The aim of this exercise is to share experience and express grounds for their opinions.
The facilitator leads a discussion about the different skills covered in the training session and how they can be applied in the rural context.
